V0.3 SOURCE IN REVIEW · VIEW PULL REQUEST ↗
A privacy audit and a lossless scrubber for JPEG, PNG and WebP. GPS, serial numbers, names, timestamps, hidden thumbnails and motion-photo video, found and removed. Then it checks its own work with a second parser.
01 / WHAT IT FINDS
Everything around the picture.
Version 0.2's strip --all only cleared EXIF. The merged v0.3 source rebuilds the file from its picture data, so XMP, IPTC, comments and anything appended after the image go too. Tap a card for details.
02 / LIVE LAB
Drop a photo. Watch it get scrubbed.
A small JavaScript version of cybermeta audit and scrub for JPEG. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
03 / THE TUI
A privacy panel beside every tag.
Run cybermeta photo.jpg: the tag browser on the left, what the file gives away on the right. Press X to preview a scrub, then y to apply it. Open a folder to see every photo's risk and scrub them all at once.
04 / THE CLI
Scriptable, batchable, JSON.
Writes default to <name>.cybermeta.<ext> next to the original and are atomic: written to a temporary file, then renamed.

JPEG segments, PNG chunks or WebP chunks, each labelled by what it carries.
Rebuild
Picture data copied byte for byte. JFIF thumbnails cut; trailers dropped.
Re-create
Rotation and date written as a fresh EXIF block holding only those values.
Verify
nom-exif, a parser that shares no code with the writer, re-reads the output. Leftovers mean an error, not a leaky file.
05 / INSTALL
One line. Checksummed.
The latest CLI release is v0.3.1. The curl installer downloads it for Linux or macOS (x86_64 or aarch64), verifies its SHA-256 and installs to ~/.local/bin. The same v0.3.1 engine is available to Rust apps as a stable tag and on crates.io.
⌘ Terminal
The command below pins the stable v0.3.1 engine tag.
📱 On your phone
Cybermeta for Android runs this same engine. Share photos to it from your gallery and send the clean copies on. No internet permission.
